A Day in the Life of a Successful Bariatric Patient
Many of you loved the first edition of the Protein Diaries: A Day in the Life of a Successful Bariatric Patient so we’re back for Round #2. Today we’ll be following Elaine throughout her day and see how she’s working towards her protein goal of 30-30-30. Elaine 5 years post bariatric surgery and working on fighting regain. Her goal is to get 30 grams of protein three times a day spread evenly throughout the day.
Let’s see how she meets her goal today:
Morning: I start my day by writing down 3 things I’m grateful for. This routine gets in the right mindset to have a successful and positive day.
Breakfast: My favorite way to get an early start on my protein goals is to have a Shake and Eggs for breakfast. I love UNJURY®’s Chocolate Ready to Drink Protein Shakes and I scramble 2 Eggs to make sure I get my protein.
Lunchtime: For lunch, I like to switch things up and have a Bunless Burger. I use 4 oz lean ground beef, 1 slice of cheese, and add lettuce and tomato. Delicious!
Later afternoon: I know that protein + exercise = a healthier you and strong, lean muscle. When I’m able to take a break in my day and take a walk, I make sure to follow up with protein. I usually have a snack of an UNJURY Brownie Bite and 1 TSBP of peanut butter (14 grams of protein).
Dinner: My dinners typically have a lot of protein—today, I had a Shrimp Stir Fry with 6 Shrimp, 1 cup chopped veggies, ½ cup brown rice, soy seasoning.
Evening: Before bed, I set aside time to read my book and spend 5 minutes writing down how I met my goals today. Not every day is the same, and I am happy I prioritized my health today!
Elaine’s day is just one example of how you can meet your protein goal! If you would like to share a typical day in your life and how you get 30 grams of protein 3 times a day, please email unjurycares@unjury.com.
