It’s Supposed to Be Good for You
Digging Through The Sensationalism“It’s Supposed to Be Good for You” OR “It’s Supposed to Be Bad for You” Those are typically the first statements you hear when anyone in the media begins a discussion about food and/or supplements. Most of the time, this Nutritional Information and MIS-information spreads sensationalism rather than fact.
These days, it's really hard for the news media to make money. Whether it is TV or the Newspaper, ratings and subscriptions are down. Partly, their problem is competition from the Web, so they're forced to compete. So how do you compete on the web? You attract attention. Therein lies the problem, because what attracts attention is the sensational and shocking. Not what is true. Examples to get your attention:
- This berry cures premature aging, heart disease, stroke, Alzheimer's, even cancer
- This supplement CURES the common cold, or memory problems or whatever, OR...
- Research study says the same supplement can CAUSE cancer, or heart disease
CNN needs your attention. NBC and Fox need your attention. Google needs your attention. Without it, they go out of business. So they compete more and more for your attention, NOT to give you good information. Good information has balance, and looks carefully at what’s true. But that doesn’t, you know, get attention. So we only get quick impressions without any facts, and so we slip into thinking and saying: “That is supposed to be good for you”. Or “that is supposed to be bad for you.” Of course every ingredient is different. Every claim is different. But just remember to go slowly with new nutrition information. Ask who is pushing the idea.
And remember that many studies are good, but many studies are bogus or biased. Remember to ask who did the research, who paid for it. So what about Protein and Vitamins? Protein and Vitamins are NOT new. They are proven, over and over.
There have been studies showing the importance of protein and vitamins for decades and decades and decades. Both are proven to be essential to human health.
At UNJURY and OPURITY we don’t sell you faddish new ingredients. We don’t sell anything that hasn’t been proven in study after study, time after time. And we won’t. We want to continue to earn your trust, every single day.
