Choosing Short Term Success or Lifelong Success

Unfortunately, lifelong success isn’t guaranteed. Too many WLS patients have good results for a few years, and then start regaining weight.

Weight regain happens for a few reasons:

First, some surgeons who don’t understand – and who often don’t talk to their patients after the first year after surgery – tell patients to get off of shakes and onto solid food. For success, you need to get 80-90 grams of protein in the first year, and 70-80 for the rest of your life. To get 80 grams of protein from beef or eggs, you would have to start with a full pound of steak, or 13 eggs.

Second, we are all human. When we are doing all of the right things, and we are getting good results, it’s just being human to unintentionally slack off and not think about it.

We also forget. When the pre-surgery instructions said to get your protein forever, it is easy to forget.

The good news is, it is all fixable, or even avoidable if you haven’t had regain yet.

Here’s what to do for lifelong success

#1: Even after the first year, get 2 to 3 servings of UNJURY per day.
